ABOUT

Established in 2017, the Walnut Hills High School Youth Philanthropy Council was founded by alumna Mary-Kate Cusick, class of 2018, and English teacher and YPC advisor Samantha Stephenson. We are partnered with Magnified Giving, a local nonprofit that provides training, curriculum, and mentorship to teach young people about philanthropy. With their help, we are able to donate $1,000 to a non-profit of our choosing, and match any additional funds we receive through fundraisers such as pizza sales, bake sales, and basket raffles. At the start of each school year, our club is divided into small groups where we research various non-profits that we believe deserve this money. At the end of the year, we give presentations on why our non-profits should be chosen for this grant. After months of guest speakers and presentations, a panel of judges vote on which non-profit should receive the funds.
